Pip and Pap Workshop
Pupils in Year 1 enjoyed their workshop on Pink Phase Book "Flash and Chell" today!
They read the book with their parents, after teaching them the grapheme-phoneme correspondences in the story!
They read sentences such as "Flash the dog helps Chell out with some tasks. He fetches the mail," and "Chell and Flash approach the traffic lights. They need to cross the main road."
In the book, Flash and Chell cross the road at the crossing. Parents and pupils made their own 'Belisha Beacons' from craft materials together! Aren't they fantastic?
Did you know that Belisha Beacons get their name from the Minister of Transport (Lesley Hore-Belisha) who introduced them in the 1930s?
Then, they spoke about the character Chell, who is visually impaired, and has a guide dog - Flash! Pupils and parents discussed why you should not touch a working guide dog.
Many thanks to all of our parents who attended - we are running weekly workshops in Years R-2, please ask your child's class teacher for more details. We would love to see you at the next one!
