JRSO WOW – The Walk to School challenge

As we ‘Spring into Spring’, we continue to encourage our kids and families to choose more active, safer, and environmentally friendly ways to get to and from school.

We aim to:

-Reduce pollution on site

-Reduce the number of cars in our car park

-Ensure engines are switched off once parked

-Promote a healthy lifestyle

We had a special assembly from Juliette at the WOW Walk to school challenge. In keeping with our mission to lessen air pollution in the immediate area of the school and reduce the amount of driving by all our staff, children and families, the Walk to School challenge recognises those that travel sustainably. Children who participate in this initiative will earn badges every month.  All you need to do to receive a badge at the end of the month is to Simply WALK to school at least once a week. (Cycling, scooting, wheeling or partial use of the park & stride count too!). We can’t wait to see the positive impact that this will have on our community.

If you were absent or are interested to see what we discovered take a look at the linked assembly slides below.

We were able to take a sneak peak at some of the brilliantly designed sustainable badges that we could receive, should we travel to school in a sustainable way. Each badge is made out of recycled plastic and has been designed by children across the county. There is a different badge each month, can you collect them all?

We will also be submitting entries for the WOW badge challenge, our entries will be selected in due course and we will keep our fingers crossed for all those that enter!
